Extended definition

Candidate Experience: Candidate experience is the sum of a candidate's perceptions throughout the entire hiring process: from the first job ad seen to the final feedback. It is a decisive factor in offer acceptance and brand reputation. Positive NPS correlates with +30% in acceptance rate.

The concept of candidate experience (CX) is directly inspired by customer experience: candidates — including rejected ones — are also "customers". Every interaction (job ad, form, automated email, interview, follow-up) contributes to an opinion the candidate will share in their network and online.

The main touchpoints are: 1. Job ad visibility: clarity of the job description, salary range (mandatory in the EU from 2026 under the Pay Transparency Directive), application process. 2. Application form: number of fields, mobile-friendliness, ability to apply via LinkedIn / CV upload. 3. Application confirmation: receipt of a confirmation email within minutes. 4. Interim communication: updates on process status, even if the answer is "still under review". 5. Interviews: punctuality, interviewer preparation, clarity of next steps. 6. Final feedback: response times (both positive and negative), motivation behind a rejection, optional retention in a talent pool.

Common metrics are: candidate NPS (post-process Net Promoter Score), drop-off rate per touchpoint, average time-to-feedback, external reviews (Glassdoor, Indeed Reviews, dedicated Google Reviews).

Market data shows that 73% of candidates with a poor CX state they would not buy the company's product/service (for B2C businesses the commercial damage is direct), and 60% actively discourage the company in their network.

The most effective improvement levers are: automation of intermediate communications (an ATS with flow automation prevents silence), transparency on process timing, self-scheduling options for interviews, mobile-first application form, motivated feedback even to rejected candidates with average CVs (top performers usually already know why they were rejected).

Cumino contributes to CX in three ways: WhatsApp application (zero friction for the candidate), automated bidirectional communication on WhatsApp/Telegram with minute-level response time, automatic translation into the candidate's language.
