Bad Day?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

So, you had a bad day. Didn’t we all? Well, if not this day then maybe another.

But, maybe you had a chip on your shoulder, too. Perhaps you told someone to ‘kiss off’. Ok, well, maybe you don’t use that expression.

What you might have said is ‘bug off’, ‘leave me alone’, ‘go away’, ‘get lost’, ’suck an egg’, ‘kiss my foot’, or something a lot more unkind.

Maybe you didn’t mean anything by it, you just wanted some time alone. And, sure, you’re probably right. It wasn’t the end of the world. Hopefully, they’ll get over it. The question is, “Will you?”

Of course, next week, you both might have forgotten the incident ever occurred. However, even so, it could come up again. One day, you just might wake up (or be awaken) to realize that your every act of unkindness was actually done to Jesus. Talk about a bad day!

Advertisers And Our Children

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Some of the most important Christian principles which we try to pass on to and establish in our children are under threat of being very effectively destroyed by advertisers and their paid assistants, advertising agencies. The latter design, implement and propagate the products of their clients.

And it is we as parents and grandparents who are to blame for their success and for the inroads made into the protecting cover of our principles.

Although this must inevitably be a brief discussion, a wide consideration of these and related matters can be found in “The Path To Freedom” at http://www.christianword.co.uk

Advertising Objectives

The objectives of virtually all advertisers is to dominate the minds of we the consumers. That sounds somewhat extreme. But it is not that each individual advertiser seeks total control of all minds. Any given advertiser is only interested in that part of our separate minds to which his products or services seek to appeal. Individual advertisers would “throw up their arms in protest” at the suggestion of their seeking total influence. And quite rightly.

But there are thousands of them – and each one is seeking to control a part of our behaviour i.e. that part which relates to the sales of his product. Of course, some are much more powerful and effective at it than others. But collectively the sum that adds up to a highly significant realm of influence.

Common Philosophies

Moreover, virtually all advertisers have the same basic, underlying, or even overt materialistic philosophy. This is endemic to the way they approach their marketing activity. Hence thousands of individual organisations are ALL effectively propagating the same anti-Christian philosophy to all of us.

Objective Children

Companies which are new and strapped for cash often find themselves taking crude and short term approaches to advertising. But the large corporations, flooded with financial resources and often operating in many different markets, and selling a multiplicity of products and services, can afford to take long term views and adopt highly sophisticated approaches.

“Get ‘em while they’re young” has been modified slightly but significantly into “Get at ‘em while they’re young”.

Again, the individual corporation/advertiser would feign horror at the suggestion that it was corrupting the Christian values of our young children. One advertising campaign does not a cesspool make, no doubt.

But it is not the influence of the one which matters. It is the combined influence of the many. That accumulated influence is very considerable – and especially in its influence on young minds.

Indeed, there are two important aspects here. One is that young minds are unformed minds. So when we as parents allow advertisers access to them, we inevitably and unavoidably allow them to bring a considerable power to influence their young minds and on their formation.

What is the essence of that formation? It is to inculcate a process of the acquisition of materialistic attitudes and systems of thought. In short: to promote values which are commonly at variance with those taught us by Jesus.

>From a very early age we are allowing our kids to have their choices determined for them by people we ourselves, confronted by a specific situation, would never allow near us. They are people whose principle objective in life is to make profit by convincing our children that they cannot possibly be happy in life without their product – whether it is a particular kind of cereal, footwear, coat or whatever.

In fact, most parents are aware that the influence of advertising has gone so far that their children are likely to be subject to ridicule at school if they do not have the brand which is “acceptable” this season. Some will be aware that their children will be “rubbished” for parents shopping at down market stores.

All this brings us to the second important aspect. Children themselves do not usually have significant personal spending power. In this sense they are “secondary consumers”: they consume only through their parents spending potential.

So advertisers work on this. Crudely or sophisticatedly, their objective is to bring a not inconsiderable persuasive power on kids to determine their parents preferences.

Parent Gullibility

Are parents so gullible? Of course. For at least two reasons. Firstly, we have ourselves been persuaded so successfully by the direct influence of advertisers that we really expect our children to succumb to the same and to want the same as other people are buying.

Secondly, and with a direct link to the first reason, we really do consider, at least at a subconscious level, that what our children have been made to believe by the advertisers is actually the best for them!

When we look at this in the cold light of reason it is clear and obvious nonsense. But we rarely use the cold light of reason. Advertisers don’t like it at all – let alone the instructive light of the Christian’s Spirit.

We sometimes take a perverse sense of superiority in what our children are led by advertisers to demand: “Oh, our John/Mary will simply not have a coat/jumper/cereal/shoes without such-and-such a brand on them”. We think they are developing so marvelously when they exhibit such “adult” attitudes and values which we, however unrealisingly, have ourselves come to regard as important.

Bad Credit Home Loan Mortgage Services – Selecting a Good Mortgage Broker

Monday, December 29th, 2008

If attempting to get a bad credit mortgage, using a mortgage broker is wise. Some people contact traditional lenders when applying for a home loan. However, if your credit is less than perfect, these lenders may be unable to assist you. On the other hand, some traditional mortgage lenders have begun offering bad credit mortgages. Still, for a wide selection of lenders, a mortgage broker is the way to go.

Who Are Mortgage Brokers?

When choosing a good mortgage, brokers operate as the middleman. It is important to compare lender offers before accepting a mortgage. Unfortunately, many homebuyers skip this step. Comparing lenders is tedious and time consuming. Thus, those in a rush to purchase a home make the mistake of submitting one loan application and accepting the first offer.

Smart homebuyers realize that comparing lenders may save them thousands of dollars. If using a broker, you do not have to contact each individual mortgage lender. Rather, the mortgage broker will do this for you. Moreover, brokers manage much of the paperwork, which makes the process easier.

Reasons to Use a Mortgage Broker for a Bad Credit Mortgage

Each homebuyer has a different situation. Hence, there are different loan programs to accommodate each borrower. For example, some lenders specialize in loans for people with poor credit, no credit, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and so forth. Additionally, there are loan programs designed to offer down payment or closing costs assistance.

Mortgage brokers have access to various lenders and loan programs. Therefore, they are able to locate the best loan package. Because brokers work with many lenders, they obtain multiple quotes for you. By doing so, you are able to easily compare a lender’s offer and terms.

Choosing a Good Mortgage Broker

It is important to choose a mortgage broker with a good reputation. Although some brokerage companies advertise heavily, this does not necessarily guarantee good service. Instead, get referrals from family, friends, acquaintances, etc.

If using a local broker, contact the Better Business Bureau to make sure a particular broker does not have any complaints. Similarly, if using an online mortgage broker, search online rip off reports for complaints. Another way to find a good broker is to consult a listing of recommended mortgage brokers.

Sinister plot to immortalize Arafat’s teachings and leadership, or sentimental goodbye among those w

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

“People on this night are going to be on several different levels. No doubt we are on the lowest level, so we are hoping in this night to attain the honor and illumination granted in it. When we reach a higher level and as it is a holy night in the heavens as well, we will begin to sense something [of the great power being manifested] on this night. Whoever is at the highest spiritual level must be present for this night in the Divine Presence of the Lord.” http://www.crescentlife.com/spirituality/laylat_al_qadr.htm

“Sources in the defense establishment believe tomorrow will be the day on which the Palestinians will ask to disconnect Arafat from life support and announce his death. Tomorrow night marks Lailat al-Kader, the night Muslims believe God revealed the Koran to the prophet Mohammed. The death of the Palestinian leader on that day will, therefore, be symbolic.” http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/498629.html

“The bill specifically forbids Arafat from being buried anywhere in Israel. “Because of his disease,” the bill reads, “the State of Israel allowed Arafat to leave for the sake of medical treatment. This bill requests a ban on his return to Israel or to the Palestinian Authority areas, whether to stay or to pass through. The bill also wishes to prevent his burial in these areas, lest the site turn into a pilgrimage attraction, a symbol, and a source of inspiration for the war against Israel’s existence.”" Arutz-7 news: Tuesday Nov 9, 2004

“”We chose Ramallah because it is close to Jerusalem, where we are hoping to bury him in the near future,” said Hassan Khraisheh, deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council and member of a special committee entrusted with overlooking the funeral arrangements. Palestinians said that after Arafat would be buried there, a mosque and monument would be built inside the compound.” http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/P rinter&cid=1099973628375&p=1078113566627

“Sha’ath said there is no talk of removing Arafat from life support. “We are not really believers in euthanasia. The man is not suffering; he is in a coma … It’s out of the question that anybody is thinking of taking any such decisions,” he said.” http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/11/09/arafat/index.html

Waiting till the Night of Power to pull the plug on Arafat’s life support would have effectively placed him on the “highest spiritual level” quoted above, and therefore, “in the divine presence of” allah. However, as the PA officals didn’t remove his life support, even his burial in Ramallah, complete with a mosque and monument to boot, will do one of two things in the minds and hearts of Muslims worldwide who revered Arafat in this life.

1) Arafat will be elevated to prophet status, and his teachings, sayings, decrees, etc, spread throughout the Islamic world, and be followed even more devoutly than in his lifetime. Thus ensuring PA leadership, that their goals to wipe out the Jews and Christians wherever they may be found, will be carried out in even greater numbers, dedication, and determination than in the past.

In this situation, pulling the plug on Lailat al-Kader would have been a ploy to ensure that policies, goals, ideology, and commitment to Arafat’s cause is further entrenched and carried out. Such a ploy would have taken advantage of Muslim thought and desire on this day, and basically forcing what many call “the new Islam” down everyone’s throat, as refusal to honor a prophet brings harsh discipline.

Burial complete with mosque and monument will very likely do the same thing in the minds of the moslem people, as not only will they come to mourn, but also come to worship.

2) Arafat will receive the burial fitting for a prophet, and many will come merely to mourn his passing, but no elevation to prophet status will occur.

This is less likely to happen, as in order to have his death be symbolic on the night of Lailat al-Kader, moslems would have to admit that Arafat was spoken to by allah himself, and that his death is a sign that his words are to be whole-heartedly honored and obeyed.

It’s bad enough that the IDF is bracing for riots and increased violence in PA-controlled areas following the news of Arafat’s death. But to have millions of moslems suddenly claim Arafat as a prophet will make matters worse for Jews, and Christians around the world. It’s already bad enough that a BBC reporter cried over his release to a Paris hospital. The added sympathy, honor, mourning, and allegiance to his teachings will only congeal supporters world-wide as well.

I see therefore, a potential polarization of East versus West, of People of the Book versus Islam in the coming days. Saudi Arabia is already treating the war in Iraq as a holy war. PA-bred terrorists are already in Iraq killing Americans and other national groups the same way they’ve been killing Jews in Israel for years.

Arafat is not another Louie Riel(http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Pa rams=J1ARTJ0006837), to be decried, then enshrined, then decried, then a statue built, repeatedly going from hero to villain and back again. Arafat, plain and simple, is a villain on a massive scale. He will be a hero to the strain of Islam he revived and its sympathizers, and a villain to those who don’t adhere or sympathize with his ways and teachings.

I say be watchful in coming days. Whether intended by the PA leadership or not, Islam may have just turned a corner. Jews and Christians beware.

Get Cheap Cricket Equipment on the Internet

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

When you are just about to start to play cricket it’s not always straightforward to tell what you need to acquire. If you go into a sports equipment retail shop and ask them what you need, you will in all probability finish up coming out with a great quantity of kit that you don’t need. So, it is better to fathom what you need previous to you going shopping. That way you are more likely to find what you require, rather than what the store owner advises you require. Find great offers on cricket shirts.

Below, is more or less an exhaustive cricket equipment list, you do not have to get all the gear on this list, as many clubs will provide you equipment particularly at youth level:

Cricket whites, cricket bats, balls, helmets, gloves, batting (wicket keeping) inner gloves, wicket keeping gloves, batting pads, wicket keeping pads, box, chest pad, arm guard, inner thigh pad, cricket boots (bowling boots; batting boots), box (groin guard), stumps and bails.

For most of the cricket events you will ever partake in you will require to have your own set of whites. Cricket whites consist of white cricket trousers and a cricket shirt. It is very important to check that you acquire an excellent pair of cricket trousers and also a nice white cricket shirt and jumper as it can easily get cold if you are standing out on the field for a substantial long time particularly if plan to play in England (the start and end of the season are the coldest).

If you can not borrow gear from your club the other most crucial items of equipment are a cricket bat and box. A good quality cricket bat is necessary if you aim to score tons of runs & is a very individual piece of cricket equipment, so spend a great deal of time choosing your bat, ideally you ought to go to a shop and try one out before you buy so you know how it feels to play with. As soon as you know what you want you can often acquire bats on the Web much cheaper). You need a good box to defend your groin from the ball, as getting hit down below’ is very painful, so investing in a good box before you start is a defiant must – you can not bat without one.

Who is Worthy?

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

What is the difference between worthy and worthily? A big
one actually. As Christians we should be made aware of the
difference. There is no one worthy to come to God on his
own. That is why Christ came. Only He makes us worthy.
We must achieve to come to Him worthily. This takes extra
action on our parts once God imputes His salvation on us.
His redemption makes us worthy, not us.

“I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you
to walk (lead a life) worthy of the (divine) calling to which you
been called (with behavior that is a credit to the summons to
God’s service. Living as becomes you) with complete
lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness,
gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one
another and making allowances because you love one
another.” Eph.4:1-2 (Amplified)

Paul is saying that because God saved you, He imparted
His grace and mercy that you should be made worthy in
which to live a life worthily of approaching Him. It’s our job to
maintain a humble attitude. We can no longer boast of the
things we have done. The person who assumes he’s worthy
is the one who is prideful. This is not of God.

When David wrote Psalm 24, he brings this observation
about. In the third verse he writes this obvious question and
then it makes us realize that it’s almost impossible to
obtain.

“Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who
shall stand in His Holy place?” Ps. 24:3 (Amplified)

Are you ready to stand before God because of the good
works you have done? This is a humbling question that we
should not pass up as we continue on our Christian walk.
Even though we are saved by grace, does that make us
worthy to stand before the Almighty God? How then is this
possible? David gives us the answer in the next verse.

“He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not
lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn
deceitfully.” Ps. 24:4 (Amplified)

This is the person who serves God with purity through the
grace that God has freely given. It’s our choice to take this
salvation deeper so that we will be worthy by having an
attitude that is of a worthily manner. It’s when we know the
One Who is in control. We are not our own. David reminds of
this fact too.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it, the world and
they who dwell in it.” Ps.24:1 (Amplified)

This verse is sobering. So many times we tend to forget that
all that we are, all that we have and all that we’ve done, is
not by our own good deeds. We have been given the
blessings to be who we are because God has given us His
righteousness. God puts us in charge of what He owns. If
we realize that we are nobody, then who are we to approach
God? This leaves me feeling quite inadequate. But, I am
forever striving to approach him worthily in my attitude of
humbleness. It is my prayer that one day as I stand before
Him, or fall before Him, He will smile and say to me, “Well
done, My good and faithful servant.”

We are called servants because we are to serve Him and
not be ’self-serving’. We must handle God’s property with all
the care in the world. If we don’t, He will not give us any
more. So many times we bring about our own hardships
when we overlook this fact.

When we take responsibility for what God trusts us with He
will also give us the knowledge in how we should treat it.
His knowledge produces the virtues in our life which make
us patient, godly, and loving. These virtues will produce the
fruits in our lives that will show others that we do belong to
God.

Just as in David’s generation, we still seek after God today.
When we truly seek His face we will then be able to stand
before Him on His holy mountain.

It’s the impartation of His purity that He lays in our hearts
which makes us worthy to come before Him. Where do you
stand in this line? Are your hands clean? Is your heart pure?
Are you truly repentant of all sins? Has God washed you
clean in the blood of Jesus? If you answered yes to these
questions now ask yourself this, do you feel worthy of
coming to God?

When you make room for Jesus in your heart, He will be
able to make room for you in heaven.

The Wisdom of this World is Foolishness with God

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Once you start to receive the knowledge and wisdom of God flowing into your life – you will find something very interesting that will start to happen. You’ll start to see the difference between the knowledge and wisdom of God versus the knowledge and wisdom of this world.

You’ll see that God is always right and that man is always wrong when the two are on opposites sides of the fence. A perfect example is the abortion issue – where you have the people who are pro-choice and their arguments versus the people who are pro-life with their arguments. From God’s point of view – it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see who is on the wrong side of the fence on this issue.

As you will see in the two verses I will list below – the Bible tells us that the wisdom of this world is “foolishness with God.” Since God is all-perfect in His being and in His knowledge – that obviously means that God is always right and man and the world is always wrong when they are not on the same page. So the first thing you will need to get worked into you is that God, all of His ways and all of His knowledge is always right. You will really need to ground on this because the wisdom of the world can be very enticing at times. You will be tempted into believing what the world has to say instead of believing what God is trying to tell you is right.

Our young teenagers are constantly battling this reality. They are constantly being tempted and enticed to get into drugs, heavy drinking and pre-marital sex. If they have not been grounded in the Word and in their faith from a good Christian upbringing by their parents – they can be easily swayed to enter into some of this dark side activity.

You will start to see the difference between God’s knowledge and how He likes to operate versus the business world in general. Many in corporate America are constantly pushing the envelope trying to get as far as they, get as much as they can and not caring who they run over and hurt in the process. The almighty dollar is their god and they will do anything and everything to make more of it. Many Christians get sucked up into some of these unscrupulous practices and thus end up going against God Himself by some of the shady things they end up doing.

Each Christian has to stay true to His God and His ways when they are faced with these kind of temptations. Study these next two verses very carefully as they really do set the stage as to what is going on in the spiritual realm when you compare the knowledge of God versus the knowledge of this world.

  • Let no one deceive you. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. FOR THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD IS FOOLISHNESS WITH GOD. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness,” and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” Therefore let no one glory in men.” (1 Corinthians 3:18)

  • “But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing will be there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” (James 3:14)

The second verse perfectly describes what goes on in the dog eat dog business world. Many are self-seeking, jealous and envious of one another – with everyone trying to run over everyone else to move higher up on the food chain.

Notice that God calls this kind of wisdom earthy, sensual and demonic – and that it is not from Him. That is why God says in the first verse that the wisdom of this world is foolishness in His eyes. In others words – it is a joke! All of these people who are choosing to live their lives in this kind of dog eat dog environment are heading down the wrong road.

Once God starts to really work with you and starts transmitting His knowledge to you on a lot different areas of your life – you will really be able to start to see the truth on a lot of different things – not only in your own personal life, but also with the world in general. Once that knowledge has been released to you and you have full understanding of it – God will expect you to believe in it and act on it when you are faced with the temptation to go with the wisdom of the world rather than with the wisdom of God. Always remember who you serve. You serve and follow God and His ways for your life – not the ways and wisdom of this world.

Marketing Tips for Real Estate Agents

Friday, December 26th, 2008

1. Add value to your message

The more value you build into your offer, the more likely prospects will be to respond to it. Give your prospects a reason to call you. Offer a buyer’s or seller’s information kit.

Know an interior decorator? Partner with them to offer free design consultations with to new clients. Use your imagination … but offer something.

2. Be professional

Real estate is a detail-oriented business. One paperwork slip can put the entire transaction off track. Your prospects know this, so don’t ever show a mailer that’s less than perfect. It only takes one sloppy design or misspelled word to blow it.

3. Write an irresistible headline

Many of the first-draft farming pieces I see have weak headlines, or no headline at all. I’ve never understood this. A direct mail piece has less than five seconds to make an impression. That’s what headlines are for!

A good headline can capture readers and pull them into the body copy. A weak headline — or a lack of one altogether — gives the reader a good reason to throw your mailer away.

4. Make your offer noticeable

Making a strong offer is critical in any kind of marketing. And making that offer stand out is just as important. After all, what good is a knockout offer if it’s set in the same font color and size as the rest of the copy? It’s likely to be missed entirely.

Use callout boxes, starbursts, bold font … whatever it takes. Just make sure your offer stands out.

5. Make your offer clear

Now that your offer stands out on your farming piece, you need to make sure the reader understands it. This is not the time to show off your vocabulary or use clever language and puns. Make your offer clear, simple to understand, and loaded with value: “18-page survey of local schools — yours free! Call today.”

6. Be unique If your farming piece looks and sounds like every other farming piece your prospect gets in the mail, what’s to make them notice you? You can be unique in a number of ways. You can make a stronger offer, design a more professional mailer, use more specific information, personalize your message, brand yourself in some memorable way, etc.

7. Leverage your website

Use your postcards in tandem with your website. For example, offer the headline or intro from an article on home buying: “15 Home-Buying Secrets You Must Know — Available at www.FakeRealtorSite.com.

Like most things in marketing, your imagination is your only limit here. Unleash some ideas of your own.

Happy farming!
