Keep that in mind when you reach for your antacid if you are doing so too often.

When it comes to treating your acid reflux disease, consider some lifestyle changes. First thing, quit smoking if you are a smoker and either cut down or stop drinking. You should also eat more fiber and eat smaller meals so that your stomach does not become too full. In addition, try to eat more complex carbohydrates and fewer fatty and friend foods. In various situations this month I found myself explaining
the important state of “being in the moment.” This means
choosing to be completely conscious of every breathing
second, being mindfully aware of what is going on right here
and now, in your experienceand this includes any thinking
you do about the past or future. Being fully aware of this
moment, right here, may remind you that your experiences
do not always have this quality of awareness or
consciousness. You may even realize you’re quite often in a
robotic state where you’re not mindfully aware of what’s
going on. You may know on some level that you’re unhappy
but you probably don’t realize most of the time that you have
an option not to be unhappy.

Sometimes while you are home your thoughts are still
absorbed with solving the challenges you face at work. And
when you are at work you find yourself worrying about
problems at home. You may even go through the day
without really listening to what others are saying to you. You
may be hearing the words, but you’re not absorbing the
message. When you’re not fully in the moment, you could
find yourself involved in yesterday and tomorrow, and never
even notice that today is slipping by. You could end up
going through the day rather than getting something from
the day.

It’s important that you take the time to observe and ponder
what is happening around you. Be alert. Be awake. Let life
and all of its subtle messages touch you. Often, the most
extraordinary opportunities are hidden among the
seemingly insignificant events of life. If we do not pay
attention to these events, we can easily miss the
opportunities. If we were to metaphorically describe our
lives as precious paintings, then wouldn’t you say each
moment in our lives is like an invaluable piece of the grand
painting? No matter how simple, complex, high or low the
moment may be, it is still nevertheless a piece that
contributes to the outcome of your grand painting. As you
paint the grand picture of your life, every moment requires
your equal respect and undivided attention.

Let’s say you want to paint a picture to include a sun, some
mountains, a stretch of green grass and a sea of water, but
you’re having a tough time drawing the sun so you decide to
scratch it out, or give it far less attention than you do the
other elements in the picture. What do you think your grand
painting will look like now? Realistically, without the sun,
can the clouds still have a sun lit glow? Can the grass still
be green as ever? Will the day be bright enough for you to
enjoy the view of the mountains? Do you see how
everything interrelates and affects each other seamlessly?
And so it is important that you’re fully present and always
aware as you paint the grand picture of your life. Hold your
brushes firmly and paint all your moments well.

Being in the moment is learning to be wherever you
arecompletely. It is developing a unique focus on the
current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance
and wealth of experience and emotions that it has to offer; it
is taking time to watch a sunset; it is listening to silence; it is
capturing each moment so that it becomes a new part of
what you are and of what you are in the process of
becoming. Being in the moment is not something you do; it
is something you experience. When you’re truly aware of
each moment, it is also no extra effort on your willing behalf
to seize the question, How can I take this moment and turn it
into something great? With this question in mind you’ll
certainly recognize every moment to be pure potentiality of
something greater than you can imagine, and it will be then
that you master the art ofnot just living, but living well!

In the time my wife and I have spent working with individuals and couples I have encountered an oft repeated complaint; it goes a bit like this. “If he would just lead, be the Godly man of this house then I could…” and the flipside “She just won’t submit to me, if she would be a Godly submitted wife then I could…” In nearly all cases it is the one’s fault in not fulfilling their “role” that holds the other back from fulfilling their “role”. What we try to stress to these spit spatters is that there is probably little wrong with their mates just with the role someone convinced you they should be playing and how you are relating to each other because of it.

Much of this misunderstanding goes back to Ephesians 5:22-33. So go get a Bible because I am not reprinting all the coming references in this article! Yes, women are to submit to their husbands as unto Christ. What gets muddled is the next verse. The Husband is her head AS Christ is the head of the church and savior of the Body. Now guys, let look at this with out cultural or self serving bias shall we?

Christ ascended to the Father remember, John 20:17 and he is interceding before the Father, Romans 8:34, in joint effort with the indwelling Holy Spirit, Romans 8:26-28 to work things to our good as our high priest, Hebrews 4:14-16 to allows us mercy and grace in times of need to accomplish God’s purpose in us. Now chew on that awhile.

Christ is the spiritual head of the church. He is in the Third Heaven entering the Most Holy by his shed blood, petitioning the Father on our behalf. He is not handling budgets, attending leadership meetings, mapping out giving or growth strategies or being bogged down in the hands on stuff. Remember we are to be trained and equipped for all this? See my last article on the Holy Spirit for an update. He is in fact The Master delegator, empoweror, healthy environment creator and perfect example in this and all areas of life.

So our wives should submit to our spiritual leadership expressed in our Priestly faithfulness to seek God prayerfully and in cooperation with His will and purposes, jointly with her and the Holy Spirit in her. All towards fruitfulness as expressed in His word. Peace, Love, Joy…, Galatians 5:22-23. This is so much more demanding than just pretending to be a Jesus loving General Patton and an over all macho righteous ruler wanna-be.

What about the hands on stuff? God used no cookie cutters when he made us and knew us before the foundations of the world were laid. Every individual has God given gifts, talents and temperaments that are ours. They are given to meet those specific plans, purposes and Divine Appointments that have been set before us. To be a successful, dynamic Christian couple two people have to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses and their mates. Then they must embrace and emphasis the strong points and understand and minimize the weak spots.

One tool I encountered in the six months of pre marital counseling my wife and I did some sixteen years ago was a personality assessment on a D.I.S.C. model. If you go to www.discinsights.com you will find an overwhelming list of resources. Go to the non-profit/small group section and you will find “The Biblical Profile”. This is an excellent tool to get a read on how God made your personality and how he used similar folks in the Bible to His Glory. There are free sights as well if you search DISC on any search engine. None of these are magic bullets, but they are helpful in better grasping who and what you and your mate are and are not as you work out the best blend. Seek Godly council if you need it though, self help can be self deceiving.

About the hands on stuff. In mutual consultation, if you are a detail or goal gifted person you should handle the planning and detailed stuff. If your mate is relationally and service motivated they should over see relating and serving also in mutual consultation. Use you giftings with wisdom. A “men must lead” mentality that is not grounded in love is a breeding ground for resentments, insecurities and abusive roles. Do not let preconceived notions or patterns that have failed in the past make your marriage unmanageable. Most roles are for actors. Married life is much better with few dramas and little tragedy. Though an occasional comedy can be refreshing as long as we are laughing at ourselves.

Come one step further with me if you will? Ephesians 5:25-33. Now this is our part guys. We are to love our wives as Christ loved the church. Boil it down and that means sacrificially! Matthew 20:28. We must love, cherish and serve our wives. We are in fact accountable for her spiritual growth. We must know her and place before her the recourses, and opportunities that will have her using what God put in her successfully to His Glory and our marriage and families best benefit as well.

By leading the charge towards blending two people into one flesh that maximizes strength, minimizes weakness and most glorifies our Lord. We can show the world what they are desperate to see. Loving, successful, functional families. Husbands and wives who work and serve best together and stay that way. If you must have a role, this is the one we as Christian couples are called to and Christian men as husbands are meant to be the leaders in.

For many years since medicine has been established as an
ethical profession and gained widespread credence people
have believed that they could and should tell their doctor
everything even remotely pertinent to their health and that
it was held in the strictest confidence. Furthermore, how
can the physician make accurate judgments when important or
significant information is missing? This system worked very
well until relatively recently but there now exists a breach
of this confidence that people should know about and this
breach has developed from the advent of third party
investigations into people’s backgrounds. Your medical
records are no longer confidential because you are forced to
reveal them. Let us look at some scenarios.

When visiting your doctor’s office on a Monday not feeling
well you tell him/her that you occasionally drink a half
case of beer over the weekend. Believing in the
confidentially of your records you forget about it. Some
time later when you apply for life insurance the company
requires you to sign a release for your medical records. (No
release, no application.) The underwriters peruse your
records, note the extra beer, and subsequently rate your
premiums higher making you pay extra for decades, thousands
of dollars.

You complain to your doctor of recurrent chest pain.
Investigation reveals nothing, the discomfort resolves
permanently and you have no further follow-up to document
the benign resolution. Everything is O.K. Ah, but not
really. Those words sit there permanently in the record.
Later you apply for a mortgage or health insurance or life
insurance, signing a release of your records. You are turned
down flat or at least rated a higher premium.

Perhaps you have occasion to mention to your doctor that you
have stress, marital discord, job problems, and
mental/emotional problems, etc. You later apply for a job
requiring security clearance or background checks. These
jobs are many and include police, security and just about
any job involving real responsibility. Despite having
resolved the problems guess who might not get the job?
You may never find out why, either.

You injure your hand and you admit to your doctor that you
punched a wall in anger. It could be the only time you ever
did something like that but guess what? Those words will
sit there forever and be taken as evidence of emotional
instability. Want to try for a responsible job?

It really is a shame to see someone pay higher
life insurance premiums for decades or be passed over for a
job they really want because of an entry in their medical
record.

What can be done about this dilemma? (Webster: A predicament
that defies a satisfactory solution.) Your concerns must be
balanced against the doctor’s need for information and his
real need to document what he/she concluded and why. A
correct solution would be very welcome but one is not
apparent.

The best approach might be the following: Tell your doctor
the truth and discuss with him/her your concerns regarding
your record coming back to hurt you and how this can be
managed
in the best way. In the case of your problem turning out
to be benign then make sure the record reflects this
outcome and
is satisfactory to you AT THAT TIME. Don’t be required to
scramble around years later trying to correct it. That’s
lame at best and you probably won’t even get a chance.
Besides, even doctors don’t live forever.

If your problem turns out not to be benign, then there is no
choice but to have it in your record. That’s life.

When faced with a dilemma all one can do is make the most
carefully considered decision one can. Work with your doctor
and try to obtain a result that is best for you. After all,
it’s your life.

Just be careful out there.

A caller recently told me he’s joining an MLM company because they promised him spillover. I said, “They are lying to you!”

The guy called me back later and said, “I point-blank asked them if I’d get people put underneath me, and the guy said, ‘Well, we can’t guarantee that.’”

Spillover – Creating a Welfare Mentality

Good people want training, not welfare. They want to build it themselves. They just want to learn the skills they need to build their network marketing business and create residual income, money that’s coming in week after week, year after year, and they can will it to their children’s children.

When you look at a lot of network marketing websites, you often see that word “spillover.” The proposition, more or less, is, “get in now, today, and you’ll get all this spillover.”

In 27 years, I have never, ever, ever seen anybody get spillover, having somebody build it for them.

And if you look closely at the compensation plans of the companies that promote spillover, you’ll find out that those who get spillover usually don’t get paid on it. There are other hoops to jump through to get paid on that spillover, and these people rarely ever qualify.

So it’s the person who actually does the work who gets the pay … what a novel idea!

Companies & reps use “spillover” as a tool to drag in people who think they can build a business without doing any work. In other words, no sponsoring, no recruiting. It targets that type of person.

When You Say “Spillover”, You Are Targeting Quitters!

When you see a network marketing company that promotes spillover for their home business, they’re looking for welfare-minded people. The problem for you is, you can’t build with these people, unless YOU do all the work! That’s what they expect. And when you don’t build their business, they’ll be off somewhere else, looking for a better welfare plan.

So really, when you or your company promote spillover, you are targeting people who will not be with you long-term. And in network marketing, that makes absolutely no sense. The failure rate will be 100%.

And Here’s Why The Leads You Buy Tell You To Go Pound Sand!

The quickest way to build a huge list is to offer the moon and require nothing (no money, no work, no purchase) in return. You’ll see companies promoting “we’ve signed up more people faster than anybody else in the history of network marketing.” Problem is, there’s nobody ordering any product. It’s just a bunch of names on a list … but now they can call these people “network marketers.”

Then they turn around and sell this huge database of worthless names (an “MLM geneology list”) For $10,000 each to 10 different list brokers. BAM! That’s $100,000 profit! And then the list brokers sell these “leads” to all the people in network marketing who want to build their business … including YOU!

So you pay $2-$3 a lead for these people, you call them up, and they tell you, “Hey! You’re nuts! I’ve never been in network marketing!” They don’t even know what it is. They just opted in to some pie-in-the-sky list, hoping to get something for nothing.

Conclusion? Run like heck from any company focused on “spillover” … and ALWAYS generate your own leads.
